November 2010

After a very busy summer things are now quiet in the building , work is been carried out on the entrance at the moment .I will be updating the blog with photos in the next few days to keep everyone up to date with what is going on .

Update 14 th March .

   We have had a hectic 10 days , i can now say apts 1D , 2D , 3D , 1B2 , 2B2, 3B2 ,1C3 ,2C3 ,3C3 ,1C2 , 2C2 , 1C1 ,2C1 are now on new water pipe now when taps are turned on there is clear water coming through not the brown that we have had lately . The remaining apartments should be connected to new supply by friday .We are have to be on site all hours builders are working as they need access to apartments , we are now happy to say we have access to all apartments so hope they can get all work done , we decided to let them carry on working this week as there are only 2 apartments in use at the moment . It has been a very long 5 months and we hope by the middle of next week builders will have gone with all their belongings and we can back to normal .
    We have a list of small things that still need attention , we have been assured this will all been seen to when builders leave , by the painters .So we ask please if you see anything that needs doing on your terrace please let us know .
   The wifi is working in pool area and most of terraces , we have 2 additional access points to improve reception on end apartments these should be working next week , as soon as we are back to normal .

Update Painting / Water Pipe 14 th March

Painting has just about finished though there is still clearing up to be done, scaffolding is now down and I should be uploading photos tomorrow .Tomorrow new pipes will be starting to go up into the apartments we hope to do as much as possible this week as there will be no one in the building as far as we know until Friday, please if anyone is planning to come this week let us know as soon as possible as the mains water might be turned off . I will be in apartments while work is being carried out as I have been instructed by President and at no time will anyone be left unattended or keys passed on.I will update during the week on how work is progressing .

Update 10th March

All work on roof is completed and painters should be finishing on friday , builders are now putting new pipe in along garden above ground but covered in with mare blocks , and the branches off to go inside the apartments will be done in the next few days the last step will be the plumber coming to connect new pipe to stop cocks in apartments , we still have problems with access to 3 apartments one of these keys are in the post to me . We would like to have all work completed as soon as possible as from the 20 th March i think there will be visitors at all times .

Water Pipes

After the water leak late 2009 ,Mr Presidente has after seeing area is still very damp and consulting with other owners has decided to change main water pipe that goes from pumps to apartments , this means a new pipe going along garden with 7 branches off one for every 3 apartments , at every branch off main pipe there will be stopcock to turn off water for those 3 apartments so in future if there are any leaks in apartments water can be turned off in sections not the whole building as it is now . The new pipe will go under tiles in passageway and into ground floor apartments there it will be drilled through to apartments above ,this will be connected to where existing stopcocks are now in utility rooms (stopcocks in apartment will also be new unless otherwise requested by owner)

 
The pipe that is drilled through from one apartment to the next will be left visible but painted white. I have access to many apartments but will not let any work be carried out without owner’s permission and I have be told by president I am to be present in apartments at all time while work is being carried out .

Update 20th February

Painting is moving along , and scaffolding should on Monday be on the last 3 apartments ,stair area has been done .A good payment for roof damage has been agreed and as insurance would have had to pay for scaffolding to carry out repair and we already have it their payout will cover nearly all the cost of checking and doing what is needed on whole roof .

As wifi in the building was requested by owners and many when have been over since have been asking about how it was going we now have a temporary solution as a more costly set up would be have to be agreed at the AGM .Whatever was decided we needed a community phone line so at the moment we have had this connected .Telefonica conected phone line by the pump area inside building and we have passed a phone line under the building and we have a router on pool side in the middle of the building . We got free connection and router from telefonica and the first 8 months will be paying monthly about 13 euros for phone line and 24 euros for adsl , after the 8 months we can have the phone disconnected and only pay adsl the price of that after the 8 months will be about 45 euros per month. We have connected a larger antenna to the router and positioned it so pool area has wifi . Terraces should also have quite good coverage and I have tried my laptop in Fernie and Sutherland apartments and we also have signal in the living rooms . We could have a high Tech set up but would be quite costly there are also some other quite cheap options that could improve signal but it’s for everyone to decide . You will need the password to be able to connect and we ask that password not be passed on to other people in the area .
